About Us

Bang to Rites Drummers are a group of community based performance drummers, based around the borders of Wiltshire, Oxfordshire & Gloucestershire.

Bang to Rites was formed in the summer of 2013, after a small group of friends drummed for a druid group at their Summer Solstice celebrations at Stonehenge.
As a result, several of us decided to get together to practise drumming as a group, incorporating different types of drums, different rhythmic styles & perform at local events & for local groups.

Between us we use Marching drums, Toms, Djembe, Bodhran, frame drum, Surdo, Dholak, Doumbek, rattles, lumps of wood anything that makes a noise.

If you would like to join us, come & join our practise sessions & then when you have learnt enough rhythms, join us in entertaining others please feel free to get in touch!

Don’t worry if you think you’re not good enough to join in, most of us would consider ourselves to be “people that like to play with drums” rather than skilled drummers!

Even if you don’t own a drum we can arrange for you to borrow a spare drum for the evening; but please let us know, so we can ensure we have a drum/s to hand.

We meet in Highworth, Wiltshire & are a non-denominational, non-political and non-profit making group; we welcome anybody over the age of fifteen; regardless of Height, colour of eyes, race, creed, sexuality etc. All are welcome!

We meet twice a month, on a Friday 7:30pm till 9:30pm, in Highworth Wiltshire. There is a £2 fee to cover hiring the hall. A full list of practise & other dates will be posted on our Facebook page & updated regularly.

We perform at charity concerts, street markets, community days, village fetes & carnivals, local festivals, seasonal celebrations, camps & rituals. This year we will be drumming at many of the above & at some new interesting venues & events so follow us on Facebook or Twitter to keep informed of further events.

Each year we raise money for a chosen charity in memory of our friend Anne Gibbons. This year we have chosen Prospect Hospice. Support us here.
